Dear parents and carers,

This week in maths we have looked at square numbers, investigating why they are so special.

In Reading we have started our new unit on ‘The House With Chicken Legs’. This is a fabulous story that never fails to capture the children’s attention.

In Art, Y5 used acrylic paint to transfer their Maya design onto fabric- the children were really proud of their results having to focus carefully on painting at a small scale.

In History, we continue our investigation of the ancient Maya. This week the children were given images of 10 artefacts. They had to think what the artefact was made of and what it could have been used for. For 1 artefact, the children generated about 10 uses, all of which they could justify with thorough and logical explanations.

In science, the children were learning more about the different planets in our solar system.  Their temperature and wha they are made of.

In English the children were comparing a real setting and portal setting using ambitious vocabulary.
