Dear parents and carers,

This week we welcomed Mr Wilcox into Year 5. He is a great addition to our team!

In maths we started work on fractions. We looked at unit and non unit fractions and then at equivalent fractions. As a reminder, the homework that is set on Ed Shed each week offers further practise for the children on the week's learning. 

In English we started our new text, Shackleton's Journey. The children made predictions, learnt about Shackleton himself and started to think about what his character was like, what he might say and how he might be feeling.

In guided reading we are studying stories from the book Survivors. We were looking at the reading skills respond and explain. 

In computing the children are learning how to create 3D drawings using a CAD programme called Tinkercad.
