Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 12.01.26
Dear parents and carers,
This week in maths we continued our work with fractions. The children were converting mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa, then moving on to comparing fractions. This required the children to use their prior learning to find equivalent fractions.
In English, the children were introduced to the WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) and they started to pick out different text features. We also read the entire book so that they could develop a deeper understanding about Shackleton and what he and his men had to endure during the expedition.
In art we worked with ink pens and pencils to create doodles in the style of Shaun Tan.
In science the children have completed the space unit by looking further at what makes planet earth so unique.
Have a great weekend.
