Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 19.01.26
Dear parents and carers,
This week in maths we have been continuing our work on fractions. The children were comparing and ordering fractions less than and then greater than 1, and adding and subtracting fractions with the same and different denominators.
In English, the children wrote poems about when Shackleton entered the Weddell Sea to practise using emotive language. We then learnt about using commas for parenthesis.
In guided reading, we looked at another thrilling survival story and practised responding and explaining information from the text.
In RE the children have been thinking about belonging and what parts of society they belong, which links to Islam and one of the 5 pillars.
For Geography, we looked at how fold mountains are made.
In art the children were creating watercolour pictures in the style of Shaun Tan.
Have a great weekend.
