Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 09.02.26
Dear parents and carers,
This week in English, Year 5 have been clacking away on the computers, typing up their reports about Ernest Shackleton. They have carefully edited, expanded, and improved their work, producing some truly wonderful pieces of writing. It has been fantastic to see the pride they are taking in their final drafts.
In Maths, we focused on finishing our fractions topic. We have been subtracting mixed numbers — a challenging skill — and the students worked incredibly hard to master it. Their perseverance and determination really stood out this week.
In PSHE, we discussed different emotions and worked together to create a happiness poster. We agreed that you do not have to feel happy all the time, and that experiencing a range of emotions is normal and healthy.
We also had the Big Brock Dance Off! Year 5 were, in my opinion, consistently the best, showing a wide range of dance moves, fantastic enthusiasm, and excellent teamwork. They produced a wonderfully choreographed masterpiece and should be very proud of their performance.
Another busy, positive, and successful week — well done Year 5!
Have a great half-term.
