Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 09.03.26
Dear parents and carers,
This week, the children have been working through their termly assessments. We are really proud of the attitude and effort they have shown throughout the week. They approached each task with focus and determination, which has been wonderful to see.
During our English lessons, we have been investigating what makes a good letter in preparation for our final write next week. The class has been exploring the key features of diary writing and thinking carefully about how to structure their ideas effectively.
In Guided Reading, we examined a detailed character description and read extracts from The Nowhere Emporium, which is a wonderfully written and imaginative book. The children enjoyed discussing the language used by the author and how it helps bring characters to life.
In Science, we had some very busy (and slightly crazy!) scientists investigating conductive materials. The children experimented with different objects to discover which ones would allow a light bulb to light up. Through their investigations, the class came up with lots of great examples and showed excellent curiosity and teamwork.
In D&T, the children designed their bread roll in preparation for making them next week.
Another fantastic week of learning — well done, Year 5!
Have a nice weekend.
