We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 11.05.26

Dear parents and carers,

This week in Year 5, the children have continued to work incredibly hard and should feel very proud of all they have achieved.

In English, we have been writing up the final versions of our Wild is the Wind stories. They are looking fantastic, and the children have worked extremely hard on improving their vocabulary, presentation, and overall creativity. It has been wonderful to see their dedication shine through in their beautiful finished pieces.

In Maths, we have been focusing on thousandths. These tricky decimals and fractions have proven no problem for Year 5, who have been confidently ordering them and comparing which are greater than or less than each other.

In Geography, we compared Ambleside to Brockenhurst, carefully considering the landscape of each location and discussing why it may be easier to build houses in Brockenhurst than in Ambleside.

In Science, we have been learning about the life cycles of amphibians, exploring how these fascinating creatures grow and change throughout their lives.

In PE, the children have continued practising hard in preparation for Sports Day next Thursday, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork.

Reminders:

  • Our Ballard trip to see Mary Poppins is next Wednesday. Please remember that we will not be back until 3:40pm.
  • Sports Day is next Thursday.

It has been another fantastic week of hard work, creativity, and exciting learning experiences in Year 5!

Have a good weekend.
