Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 5.10.26
Dear parents and carers,
The children have produced some fantastic artwork for the Art Projects Christmas cards! We have been so impressed with their creativity and the wonderful designs they have created. We hope you enjoy seeing their artwork as much as we have enjoyed seeing them create it! If you would like to place an order, please follow the instructions on the leaflet that accompanies your child’s design. There are no late orders, so you will need to place your orders in the next two weeks.
In English, the children have completed their planning for a dual narrative inspired by Neil Gaiman’s version of Hansel and Gretel. They have continued to work hard on exploring a range of vocabulary choices and thinking carefully about text structure to make their writing engaging and effective. We look forward to seeing how they bring their ideas to life in their finished stories!
In Maths, we have continued to develop our skills in addition and subtraction. The children have been tackling multi-step problems and finding missing numbers, using their mathematical reasoning to work through each challenge. They have shown great perseverance when applying their knowledge to solve increasingly complex problems.
In Science, the children evaluated their investigation into air resistance. They revisited their original predictions and considered whether their results matched what they had expected. They also discussed how the investigation could be improved to make it more accurate and reliable, as well as identifying any anomalous results. The children have been developing their scientific thinking by reflecting on their findings and considering how investigations can be carried out more effectively in the future.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone
