Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

28.4.23
Good afternoon,
The children have had another week of working very hard! I've been really impressed with their resilience and positive attitudes.
In English, we have continued our work based on 'The Buried Crown' and this week the children have been writing newspaper articles linked to the story. We will continue reading this book as our 'daily read'.
In Maths, we have recapping geometry this week, thinking about how to calculate the angles within shapes as well as exploring 3D shapes, translation and reflection.
We have been planning our own investigations today in Science and will conduct these next week.
Homework notice: On EdShed, the children have been set tasks which will help to prepare them for SATs. There are some reasoning style questions which are a similar style to the questions that they will answer in one of the maths papers. I have also set all of the Year 5/6 spelling words to help them to remember the spelling of these. Please encourage your children to complete these homework tasks and also to use EdShed as a resource to support with their learning, as there are many other activities that they can opt to do, particularly if there is an area that they feel they need extra practice in.
We hope you all enjoy the long weekend!
