We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

25.4.25

Good afternoon,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely Easter break. We have had a busy first week back in Year 6.

We have started a new topic in English on a book called 'The Watertower'. The children have been extremely engaged in this text, which is about a mysterious watertower which has appeared in a town, causing some very odd things to happen. We will continue to use this book and other similar texts as a stimulus for some writing in the genre of horror.

In maths, we have continued our topic of geometry, calculating missing angles in a variety of shapes. The children have made great progress on this topic.

We have started a new topic in History, studying whether the story of the Trojan Horse is a fact, legend or a myth. The children will become historical detectives throughout the topic, gathering evidence to answer the enquiry question.

A reminder that group 1 is doing forest school this half-term, so they will need appropriate clothing on a Tuesday afternoon. We have PE on a Thursday and Friday, so the children will need their kits on these days - some did not have them this week. We are trying to help children to prepare for secondary school by encouraging them to be responsible for remembering the correct kit on each. They will also need their PE kit on Monday as we have a coaching session with some students from Brockenhurst College.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
