Welcome back everyone! We hope you have had a wonderful summer. It has been lovely welcoming the children back and catching up, as well as getting ready for our trip to Swanage. If you have any queries about the residential, please do let me know as soon as possible. We also have our upcoming information meeting about Swanage on Wednesday 10^th September at 3:15pm, where we will go through our itinerary and plans.

Year 6 are settling back into the school routine brilliantly and are enjoying the extra responsibility that being in Year 6 brings. We have organised monitors for the roles that Year 6 are responsible for, and it has been fantastic to see such enthusiasm.

In other news this week, I was very impressed with the descriptive paragraphs that the class wrote today in English. They really considered their language choices and sentence structure to have an impact. In maths, we have been working on place value, recapping numbers to 1,000,000, and applying their knowledge to some problem solving tasks. We have also explored and responded to some artwork of Swanage in our first art lesson.

A few things to note for Year 6:

• Library change Wednesday   
• Book change Wednesday
• Forest School Thursday – the class will be split into two groups. Group 1 will be this half term and Group two will be Autumn 2. I will confirm groupings early next week.
• PE days are Thursday and Friday, but please ensure PE kits are in daily.
