We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6

Year 6 - 12.9.2025

We have reached the end of our first full week in Year 6. Thank you for coming to the Swanage meeting – hopefully this has answered any questions and clarified the plans for the trip. I have attached the PowerPoint for you to look back at if needed. This week, half of Year 6 have enjoyed their first Forest School session whilst the other half had a golf lesson with Mrs Martin. Both groups had a great afternoon, despite the rain! We have also started new units in History, RE, PSHE and Art.

In other news, we have been continuing with our Place Value journey in maths. The class have been looking at numbers up to 10,000,000, using number lines and exploring the power of 10. The class have also been recapping prior knowledge through their morning maths and recalling known facts. Times table fluency is still key in Year 6 – do keep building confidence in this area if needed.

In English, we have been exploring ‘Dead Man’s Cove’ which is our current writing text. The class have applied their reading skills by predicting and inferring to get to understand the book a little better. They have applied this knowledge to a piece of writing based on just the first few lines of the text.

Please note, homework will be set on EdShed every Friday. The assignments will be focused on what we have been learning in class that week and need to be completed by the following Friday.

We hope you all have a great weekend.
