We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6

Year 6 - 19.9.2025

We have had a great week in Year 6. One of our highlights most definitely has to be our first Career Session. Denis Dooley has very kindly organised a series of visitors to give the class an insight into a range of careers. It started today with local PCSO Richard Williams. He told us all about a typical day in his role, answered questions from the class and showed us a police car. This was a really interesting session and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

In other news this week, we have continued our Place Value unit looking at numbers to 10,000,000. We have been applying our knowledge of rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. The class were reminded about the rules of rounding and how to use a number line to help them. We then moved onto comparing and ordering numbers, paying careful attention to whether we needed to have them in ascending or descending order. We have ended the week by looking at negative numbers and representing these on number lines.

In English we have recapped adverbs and relative clauses. The class have recapped when and how to apply these correctly and how to identify them in text. We have ended the week by writing our own starter to Chapter 2 of our text. We will be continuing our work on Monday, but from what I have seen so far, we have some fantastic pieces of writing!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
