We have had a very busy week in Year 6! This week, we have been on two transition visits to Priestlands School and Highlife School. The children took part in a science and art lesson, and had very informative tours in both schools. Year 6 had the opportunity to have all of their questions answered throughout the mornings. They asked lots of important questions and gained a real insight into a school day in a secondary setting. We have ended the week with our third career session. We were joined by Bronya who is the Founder and Managing Director of ‘bronze design’. She shared her experiences with the class and they learnt about design and marketing. They then had the opportunity to design their own chocolate bar and its packaging. The class had some fantastic ideas and their designs look great!  

In other news, this week we have been looking at multiplication and division. We have multiplied numbers by two digits and applied a formal written method. The class have become really fluent at using this method and spotting errors. We have then moved on to recapping short division. Our division journey will continue next week.

In English, we have been looking at a new learning journey linked to a short film called, ‘Black Hole’. We started by making predictions and using the actions of the character to infer. We have ended the week by sharing our opinions on the main character, and what they are like, using evidence from the film.

Change to our timetable – Friday’s PE session will be moving to a Monday.
