Year 6

Year 6 - 17.10.25
We have reached the end of another week in Year 6. This week we have enjoyed looking at autumn changes in science and applied our knowledge to classifying plants and trees. This afternoon, we were very lucky to be joined by Agister, Robert Maton. Year 6 found out more about his job role and what his responsibilities are. The class had the opportunity to ask lots of different questions and found out lots about Robert and his role.
In maths, this week we have been focusing on long division. Throughout the week, we have built up great fluency when applying this method. The class are ensuring they are checking for accuracy when counting out the multiples they need and applying the method one step at a time. We have ended the week by applying knowledge to a range of written problems that required more than one step.
In English, we have recapped using subordinating conjunctions. We have ensured we can identify main and subordinate clauses and recognised what punctuation we need when the subordinating conjunction is at the start of a sentence. We have then revisited using punctuation to indicate parenthesis. The class have used commas, dashes and brackets to show where the extra information in a sentence starts and end.
We hope you have a great weekend.
