We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6

Year 6 - 12.12.25

We have ended our week with a final career session. We were joined by Jim Green who has had a long career in the fire service and animal rescue. Jim shared his story with us and told us many interesting accounts about the animal rescues he has been a part of. His wealth of experience has been passed to many around the world in the training he has delivered in animal rescue. Year 6 have had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful variety of career sessions over the term and I hope they have been inspired! A huge thank you to Denis Dooley for organising all the sessions. It has been a brilliant experience.

In Maths this week, we have finished multiplying and dividing fractions. The class used this knowledge, along with addition and subtraction, to solve mixed-operation fractions problems. We had to think carefully about how to approach these problems and remember all the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. Well done Year 6!

In English, we have been focusing on using colons, semicolons and dashes. We have explored how and why they are used within a sentence, identified examples within our class text and used them within our own writing. Today, we planned our own time slip stores ready to write next week.

Homework has been set on EdShed. It would be really beneficial for the children to try to get into a routine with completing their homework so that they have established good habits for secondary school, where the workload increases. All tasks focus on the learning that has taken place in school and help to consolidate taught areas.

We hope you have a good weekend.
