We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6

Year 6 - 6.2.26

What a great week it’s been in Year 6! A real highlight was our art lesson, where we took inspiration from the bold and colourful work of Clarice Cliff. After exploring her distinctive style and patterns, the children created vibrant watercolour backgrounds and layered them with carefully selected shapes cut from magazines. The combination of colour, pattern and texture resulted in eye-catching, individual pieces, and it was wonderful to see the children experimenting so confidently with their ideas.

In English, we have been recapping speech punctuation and expanded noun phrases, applying these skills in an imaginative writing task. The children created a descriptive recount of a new memory, imagining what Varideon might reflect on as it whirred around the Alchemist’s mysterious machine. Their writing was rich in detail and atmosphere, with ambitious vocabulary and well-punctuated dialogue bringing the scenes to life.

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of algebra by forming expressions, substituting values and exploring formulae. The children approached this learning with confidence, using logical thinking and problem-solving skills to explain their reasoning and check their answers.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
