Year 6

Year 6 - 27.2.26
Welcome back Year 6. We hope you all had a wonderful half-term. We have had a busy week! A real highlight has been Bikeability. The class did brilliantly during their sessions and spent a total of 4 hours riding this week. They were enthusiastic, sensible and very well-mannered throughout the sessions. The instructors were impressed with their listening skills and responsible behaviour on the roads. Well done Year 6 - you should all be very proud of the maturity you showed while developing such important life skills.
In English, we have started our new class text, Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver. The opening chapters have already captured everyone’s interest. We have been exploring unfamiliar and powerful vocabulary, using context to work out meanings and discussing why the author has chosen particular words for effect. The class has also been making thoughtful predictions about the plot and characters, supporting their ideas with evidence from the text.
In maths, we have been revisiting decimals to strengthen our understanding and build confidence. We have focused on place value, including tenths, hundredths and thousandths, and have practised adding and subtracting decimals as well as multiplying and dividing them. The children have worked hard to explain their reasoning clearly and apply their knowledge accurately.
We hope you all enjoy the weekend.
