We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6

Year 6 - 11.9.2026

We have had a very positive week settling into the routines of Year 6. It has been lovely to see the children arriving keen, enthusiastic and ready to learn. Many pupils have also taken on roles and responsibilities across the class and wider school community, including tuck shop, Year R buddies, the library and other important jobs. It is wonderful to see so many children eager to contribute in this way.

In maths, we have been developing our understanding of place value up to 10,000,000. The children have been using a range of representations, including part-whole models, bar models and number lines, as well as applying their knowledge of powers of 10.

In English, we began by predicting, retrieving information and asking questions. We then moved on to reading the opening paragraph of a text and having a go at writing in the same style as the author.

A few key things to note:

  • PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday, but please ensure PE kit is in school every day.
  • Library is on Thursday.
  • Homework will be set on Friday and should be completed by the following Thursday.
  • Establishing a good routine for homework in Year 6 is hugely beneficial in preparation for transition to secondary school.

Have a lovely weekend.
