We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Friday Blog - Friday 10th June

Good afternoon everyone,

We have gone minibeast mad in Badger class this week as we have started our new topic looking at bugs, beetles and all sorts of other creepy crawlies. The children were fascinated by a dead queen wasp that I found, particularly as you could still see its sting. Since then, we have found all sorts of other dead insects!

Live creepy crawlies are definitely more exciting - a parcel arrived for us and inside were some tiny and very hungry caterpillars. We couldn't believe how much they grew in just one day. We have recorded a picture of them in our caterpillar diaries and are looking forward to seeing how much bigger they are after the weekend.

This week we have also made observational drawings of insects, made our own hungry caterpillars and read lots of other information books about insects. We have shared The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and discovered some of his other stories too.

Just a quick reminder - please make sure the children have what they need for outside, whatever the weather. It has been very changeable this week. I had lots of children with no coats on a very rainy day, but they also needed their sun hats too!

Have a great weekend everyone,
