We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Friday Blog - Friday 11th November

Good evening everyone,

I was so proud of all the children today. They were so respectful during the 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day. We watched Big Ben strike at 11 o'clock, then watched a CBeebies animation specially made for the day.

The children have all come home today with their login details to access their phonics reading book online. We have had 3 very successful reading sessions in school and the children are looking forward to reading these books to you at home. If you have any problems logging on, please let me know.

In phonics this week we have learnt the phoneme j and the digraphs ( 2 letters - 1 sound) ff, ll and ss. The children are always enthusiastic during our phonics sessions and are becoming experts at sound talking and blending words.

In maths we have been learning about circles and triangles. This has also inspired us in art. We have found out about an artist called Kandinsky. We have painted our own concentric circles and used collage to make abstract art with triangles and circles.

Other highlights this week have been seeing a tractor in the playground, making sparks at Forest School and holding (and sometimes dropping!) stick insects.  We are all looking forward to our visit to Lymington Library on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year R Team
