Reception Commentary at the end of the first week back.
A great first week back and an exciting week ahead in prospect for the Reception Class at Brockenhurst Primary School.
During last week the children had fun getting used to class routines and getting to know their new class mates. By the end of the week, they had settled really well, and had achieved a great deal. We had introduced letter shapes and sounds, and looked at patterns in numbers. The children had chosen their own lunches, and organised themselves for snack time. We had thought about what sort of place we wanted our class to be and how we could behave to ensure that happened. We changed for PE, went running, threw and caught tennis balls, explored the adventure playground, and even joined 64 key stage 1 children for quicksticks hockey. We worked togehter with our parachute. During the afternoons we sang, and played circle games in music. We also had time to select our own activities both indoors and outside, and thought about how we could make this work in a cass of 21 so everyone could play happily. We also attended whole school assemblies, and got to know a little more about golden time, sticker charts, and how the school house system works.
Please let the children come in on their own this week.
As the children continue finding their feet, could we please ask parents to say good-bye to their children at the school gate this week, as explained at the home visits. Some had a go at this onThursday and Friday last week and did very well.
Outside Adventure This week.
We will be venturing out to Rhinefield Arboritum on Thursday afternoon this week. We plan to get out into our beautiful surroundings and use different senses to explore and learn. If this sounds like an adventure that you could help out on, and you have completed the necessary DBS clearance and registered with the school as a driver, could you please let me know by email and I will organise transport and supervision.
I hope everyone has a great week.
