Year 1
Year 1 - 28.2.2020
What a busy and wet week we’ve had! It has been lovely hearing about all of the wonderful things the children got up to on their half term break.
In English, we are looking at Little Red Riding Hood. The children have been coming up with great noun phrases to describe the different characters and settings found within the story. Today they did a fantastic diary entry as Little Red Riding Hood. They wrote about their adventure in the woods, meeting the wolf and racing to Granny’s house. Next week we will be continuing to look at our story before the children have the opportunity to write their own versions.
In maths we have been exploring 2D shapes. They have really enjoyed describing different shapes and seeing if their partners could guess what shape they were thinking of. Everyone has worked hard to try and use good maths words when describing their shapes.
This week we have been getting incredibly messy with paint. The children identified the different primary colours and then they began to create secondary colours in different ways. We will continue to look at mixing colours to find different shades and using different types of brushes to create texture.
Have a great weekend!
