Year 1!
Year 1 - 6.3.2020
What a fantastic World Book Day we had! The children all looked absolutely brilliant and it was lovely to see how creative some of their costumes were. We started our day thinking about different books by Julia Donaldson and then we chose Stick Man to explore more closely. It was immediately a favourite in the class and they all enjoyed joining in. After reading about Stick Man’s wonderful adventures the children chose their favourite part and created a collage. Everything and everyone got very sticky and messy but they all had fun and the end results were brilliant!
In Maths this week, the children were looking at halves and quarters. They worked as a group to work out different ways of cutting bread and cakes into quarters so that all of the pieces were equal. We have also started recapping our counting in 2s which we will be continuing next week before we then move on to counting in 10s.
Be ready for our exciting stories to be coming home next week. They have all been working hard to retell the story of Little Red Riding Hood and are eager to bring them home by the end of next week. Keep a look out for the wolf!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend – let’s hope it stays dry!
