Year 1
Year 1 27/11/2020
Hello everyone
We have had another great week here in Year 1!
In English we are continuing with our learning journey ‘Lost in the Toy Museum’. We began the week by reading up to ‘all the toys woke up...’ The children then had to predict what the toys did next. This led to some great ideas of what the toys got up to in the museum. Thank you again for everyone who has sent in pictures of the children’s favourite toys. It has been the talk of the week looking at all the different ones.
In Maths this week we have been looking at 2d shapes! The children have loved learning about shapes. We made our own shape robots using a variety of shapes. The children all had great fun thinking that their robot had a square head and a hexagon body!
In Art this week we have been looking at the artist Brian Wildsmith. In particular his work on angels. The children have looked at a variety of images and then had a go at drawing their favourite part. The children have all been really interested in looking at the different pictures.
This week in PE we have continued our work on balancing in gymnastics. This week we had a whole range of equipment out for the children to explore and practice their balances on.
Without getting too excited for Christmas too early... one assembly this week got us thinking about Advent and what it means. This led to a range of discussion about the lead up to Christmas. We have been very lucky for some children to tell us all about their own Christmas traditions!
I hope you have a great weekend!
Miss McKay
