Year 1
2/07/21
Hello everyone!
We have had a great week in Year 1.
In English, we finished our learning journey ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ by writing a recount of his week. I was so impressed with the children’s writing. We focused on using the suffixes ‘est and er’. Towards the end of the week we have started our new learning journey. The children do not yet know the title, but have been predicting what it could be. In Maths, we have been busy finding a quarter of a shape and of an amount. The children have all tried really hard with this and have used a range of recourses to help them.
In PE this week we have enjoyed being outside playing rounder’s. The children are all getting to grips with the game. We have had a lovely day today for our R.E day. We have been focusing on remembering, looking at the Hindu festival of Janmashtami. We have thought about who we like to remember and how we like to remember. We then linked this with how Hindus remember people and have looked today at the story of Krishna’s birth. The children all did a great job at acting this out.
We had a very exciting Friday afternoon. We went out to visit the pigs and had a great time playing with them.
If you have any tin cans at home, please can they be brought in on Monday ready to create our sculpture.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Miss McKay
