Year 1 Blog- Friday 21st January
Year 1- Friday 21st January
Dear Parents,
English
This week we have been writing our non-chronological report about crocodiles. The children have remembered to use a title, introduction and subheadings to organise their facts. They were fantastic at remembering different facts that we had researched last week.
Maths
For maths, we have been looking at partitioning numbers. The children used multi link to practically partition the number and then have learnt different ways to record this and derive the subtraction facts. We have also learnt how to work out one more and one less than a given number.
Geography
We have been continuing our learning about the weather, looking at extreme and dangerous weather around the world. The children have also looked at hot and cold climates and which type of animals would live in these environments.
Art
The children looked at some of Clare Young’s artwork and recreated their own lion with felt tip pens in this style.
Science
This week, we looked at the diets of different animals and sorted them into carnivores, herbivores and omnivores using a Venn diagram.
Reminder about Mathletics and Edshed- I have set these on a Friday for the last two weeks, but this will go back to being set each Tuesday from next week.
Thank you for all the reading you have been doing this week, the children have been very excited about collecting their reading sticker each day. Keep going Year 1 you are reading superstars!
Have a lovely weekend.
