Year 1
Friday 16th September
Good afternoon,
We have had another great week in Year 1.
We are very much enjoying our writing journey of creating our own retell of 'The Queen's Hat' and I am very excited to see more of their creative ideas next week!
In maths, we have continued with lots of practical activities and real-life problem-solving using our skills of adding and taking away, representing number and ordering and sequencing.
In art, I have been very impressed with the children's impressions of Eric Carle's artwork. We have been using different materials to experiment with and explaining why we had a certain preference.
In science, we have been learning about materials and their properties. The children's vocabulary is fantastic, and we have made some excellent observations during practical activities.
Some extra information:
We will be visiting the library on a Friday morning.
This week, your child has been sent home with a reading book and reading journal. Please can they bring these into school every day and the books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday.
Your child will also have a maths fluency card. This can be kept at home for you to practise.
Today, I handed out the children's 'Big Cat e-book' log ins. The instructions on how to log in are included on the sheet. Every week, I will assign a book to them that we have been reading in school. This gives the children the opportunity to build on what they have been reading in school and to share their learning with you at home. Any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Prichard and Mrs Kitcher 🙂
