Year 1
Friday 30th September
Good afternoon,
What another lovely week. Koala class have continued to amaze me with their kind natures and eagerness to learn.
In maths, we have been partitioning numbers. The children have been practicing using different tools such as ten frames and part-whole models to help them partition objects practically.
In English, we have started our new writing unit. We began by reading the lovely story ‘Follow me Little Fox’ and exploring the senses that Little Fox used when he leaves the city for nature. We are now thinking about our own school environment and the senses we use at school. We went on a senses hunt to mind map all of our wonderful ideas. We found that we could see lots of ‘white fluffy clouds’ and smell ‘beautiful flowers’.
In art, we have continued to look at Eric Carle’s art work. This week, we have created some wonderful collages.
I hope that you have all managed to successfully log on to Collins E-books to read the children’s assigned books. We read these books 3 times a week in school and it is making a huge difference to their progress. If you have any questions regarding this, Mrs Morris and I will be holding an information evening on Monday.
In your child’s reading journal, there is a log in for Maths Shed. I have set some homework today which will be available to the children for 1 week. If you have a spare 10 minutes to log in and have a go, that would be fantastic! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support with this!
Well done Koalas on another fantastic week, I’m looking forward to seeing you on Monday.
Miss Prichard and Mrs Kitcher :)
