We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 1

Friday 14th October 2022

Good afternoon and happy Friday!

We have had a very busy and exciting week in Year 1.

The children are coming to the end of their second writing unit this half term. Their descriptions of their school environment have been extremely detailed and creative. Koala class are building up lots of important skills to help them be independent writers and I am amazed at their progress so far!

If you have seen the Instagram page this week, you will have been as impressed as I was with Year 1’s leaf animal art work. They really thought hard about their designs and showed such concentration and creativity and this definitely shone through in what they achieved.

On Thursday, we went on a walk around Brockenhurst to support our geography learning of map work. The children really enjoyed it and it really helped with their understanding of how to read and follow maps. When we got back from the walk, the children used their maps to plot their route and then create their own maps using keys and symbols. Well done Year 1!

Homework:

Thank you to everyone who has tried to access the maths homework on Maths Shed this week. Unfortunately, there has been a bit of a mix up. I have set homework today which your children should all be able to access. Please let me know if there are any problems.

After half term:

After half term, we will be learning and writing about toys. It would be lovely if you could send in a picture (either by email or in person) of your child with their favourite toy. This will really help with their writing next term! Thank you.

I hope you all have a wonderful and restful weekend.

Miss Prichard and Mrs Kitcher.
