Year 1
Friday 28th April 2023
We have had a great week in Year 1.
In maths, we have been solving multiplication problems using multiples of 2s, 5s and 10s. I have been very impressed with the children’s determination and we are now feeling very confident with this.
In English, we have been preparing to write our poem about the beach. We wrote some fantastic letters about what you need to bring to the seaside. A sound piece of advice was to hold on to your fish and chips because seagulls can sometimes take them!
In guided reading, we have been reading the poem ‘Yo Ho Ho’. The children have been performing this in groups and it has been amazing! Their expression when reading has been so lovely to hear.
In geography, we have been looking at human and physical features of the seaside. The children wrote a postcard this week explaining what they would see at the beach.
In PSHE, we have been looking at the topic ‘Relationships’. We have talked about what it means to be a good friend and how we can make new friends. We are so lucky in Koala class that we all are great friends to each other and I have been really proud of the kindness and consideration they all show.
We are all really looking forward to our trip to the beach! Thank you to those who have kindly offered to come with us. If you have offered or would like to come with us, please could you email me directly. Thank you so much.
I hope you all have lovely 3 day weekend!
The Year 1 team.
