Year 1
Friday 9th June 2023
We have had a lovely first week back in Koala class.
In English, we have begun our new writing unit using the book ‘The Pirate Cruncher’ by Jonny Duddle. This has linked nicely to our guided reading text this week ‘The Pirate’s Next Door’ by the same author.
In maths, we have been revisiting number bonds to 10 to help us to make number bonds to 20 and 100. We have been using dienes to support us with this learning and to show the tens and ones that make up the numbers we are using.
I think the highlight of this week has been learning about the Great Fire of London in history. We have really enjoyed learning lots of new facts and the children have shown a real interest in the topic. We have also learnt a new song with actions. We are really excited to delve further into this topic and take part in some more exciting activities!
In art lessons this half term, we will also be looking at artists impressions of the Great Fire of London.
A reminder that PE is on a Tuesday and Friday and we go to the library to change library books on a Friday.
Well done Koalas on a fantastic week!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
