Year 1 - 22.9.23
A wonderful week in Owls. Children continue to grow in confidence and settle into routine. Well done Owls for great listening and following instructions.
This week, children have shown hard work and enthusiasm in their Little Wandle phonics and reading sessions. Children continue to grow in confidence in their reading skills. It is noticeable that children are beginning to read at home. As an extra incentive, we will be launching 'Reading Super Stars' next week . The children are very excited about this!
Children need to read both their school reading book and Little Wandle e-book at least 3 times to earn their certificate. Please write in your child's reading record every time they read with you. This will then be counted up each week.
We will also be launching 'Star of the Week' next week. The children are also very excited about this. Children will be spotted for exceptional behaviour and kindness in class and around school.
In PSHE-Jigsaw learning this week, we have been talking about rights and responsibilities. We discussed our class charter and had a special visitor to look after. Luna, our school dog. The children loved saying 'hello' and looking after her.
In Art, we are focusing on Eric Carle the author/ illustrator and creating our own pictures in his style. Today we used paint. It was lots of fun. Check out Instagram to see some of our work.
Our PE days this half-term are Monday and Tuesday - please encourage the children to wear something easy they can get themselves dressed and undressed independently.
If children have long hair ensure it is tied back
Have a lovely weekend
