Year 1- 20.10.23
Good afternoon,
What a super half-term we have had in year 1. The children continue to demonstrate great concentration, focus and resilience in their learning. It was lovely to see so many of you at parents evening this week, and thank you for being adaptable to last-minute changes on Monday. If you have not had a parents evening yet for your child as you were unable to attend, please email Emma or I and we will arrange one. This will either be with Emma or me.
It is great to see so many children reading their Little Wandle e-books, and you can certainly notice a difference in their progress. Please continue to read over half-term to help embed these valuable phonics and reading skills. If you are unsure about how to pronounce certain sounds - please visit, https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/ there are many helpful videos and guides.
In English, we have continued to focus on sentence structure, verbally saying our sentences aloud, then writing them, sorting muddled sentences in the right order and making our sentences more interesting by using 'and' or 'because'.
In Maths, we have been practically working our number bonds within 10, using cubes to help our understanding. We then recorded our workings. I have set some home learning on Edshed to reinforce these concepts. https://www.edshed.com/en-gb/menu
