Year 1 - 20.9.24
It's hard to believe we're already at the end of week 3! The children never cease to amaze me with their creativity and hard work.
This week in English, we’ve been busy planning and writing our own stories inspired by The Queen’s Hat. The children are excited to share their stories with the Reception class next week.
In Maths, we’ve been practising finding 1 more than a given number, first up to 10 and then up to 20. Please keep practising this at home, either through EdShed (https://www.edshed.com/en-gb/homework) or with practical activities.
In Computing, we’ve been exploring "What is technology?" and went on a walk around school to spot different examples. Next week, we’ll be using laptops, which the children are really looking forward to!
In Geography, we completed our passports, discussed where we live, and even used the children's addresses to find locations on Google Maps.
A few reminders:
- Book change days: Monday and Thursday (Please write in your child’s reading diary, and encourage them to read the book more than once to help build fluency.)
- Library day: Friday
- PE days: Monday and Friday
Finally, a date for your diaries, Tuesday 8th October - Little Wandle Phonics evening. This is to inform you how we teach Phonics in year 1 and ways you can support at home.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.
