Year 1 - 28.02.25

Welcome Back
It has been wonderful finding out about the children’s half term adventures and they have been very enthusiastic sharing their diaries. Thank you for your support in helping the children to complete these.
Literacy
This week, we started our new text ‘Man on the Moon’, we have loved using the pictures to learn more about the character ‘Bob’ and enjoyed making predictions. The children have loved sharing their ideas about space. If they have a book on space they would like to bring to share, please ensure their name is clearly marked on the book. This can be fiction or non fiction.
Maths
Our focus in Maths has been consodating our knowledge on place value to 10-20 and then practising application by subtracting by counting back and taking one away. I have set some homelearning on ed shed to support this.
Phonics
Our focus this week, please help your child to find and identify in their reading books
- ‘or’ (work, world, worth, worm, worse)
- ‘oul/ u’ (could, would, should, awful, playful)
- ‘are’ (share, care, dare, square, scare, stare)
- Grow the code – or including au (author) aur (dinosaur) oor (floor) al (walk)
Our new tricky words are once and laugh.
Home Support
Little and often makes a big difference! Please continue reading regularly, practising tricky words, and using the maths fluency cards.
Thank you for your continued support,
