Year 2 - 26.04.2019
Welcome back! I hope you all had a great Easter break. It is lovely to have everyone back and hear all of their stories from the holiday.
This week in English we have looked at A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We have watched a version of it on CBeeebies and explored a comic strip. As a class we have acted it out and created freeze frames. To end the week we have used pictures and sentences to sequence the story independently.
In maths we have focussed on addition. The children are becoming more and more confident and are selecting methods that suit them in order to work out the answer. We have been partitioning numbers into 10’s and 1’s to calculate the total. We worked hard on working out word problems – which we do sometimes find challenging. The class have shown perseverance and determination and are working hard to understand what they need to do to answer a question.
Please find attached to this post a copy of our summer term overview. This will give you an idea of what we are doing in school and also includes homework for the summer term. Children can choose from the options available. Please can the first piece be handed in by Friday 24th May and the second by Friday 12th July. Please continue to work on the common exception words and complete the Mathletic’s tasks.
Have a good weekend.
