We have had a lovely week in year 2.  In English we have planned and written letters from a character in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.  We have thought carefully about the purpose of the letters and how the character would be feeling at the time they wrote them. We have used a success criteria to self-assess our work.  They had thought about language choices carefully and had included some brilliant vocabulary.  Well done!

In maths we have been focussing on addition and subtractions.  We have solved subtraction problems using equipment, pictures and a number line.  The children are great at choosing their preferred method and selecting resources to help them. We have used our knowledge to solve word problems and ended the week tackling missing number problems – which we will continue on Monday.

We started our plants topic this week and began with re-capping all we know about plants. We went on a walk around our schools grounds making observations about what we could see as well as the different colours. We collected materials from the ground (making sure we did not pick anything that was still growing) and created our own natural pieces of art. As you can see from the picture on this post, the outcome was brilliant!
