Year 2
Year 2 - 10.05.2019
What a lovely, sunny end to the week! We have ended our day with biscuit decorating which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
In English this week a mysterious seed appeared in the classroom and we thought it may be to do with the magical forest in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. We began by making predictions about what the seed will grow into – there were some fabulous ideas. We then created our own potions and have written lists of ingredients and a description. These have been published beautifully.
In maths we have spent some of the week continuing with addition and subtraction. We have solved missing number questions and explored number facts to 100. Today we took maths outside and looked at capacity.
In science we have planted bean plants and sunflowers. We will be watching them closely over the coming weeks and recording our observations as they (hopefully!) grow.
We regularly ask the children to tell the time in school to give it a real life context and allow practise. It would be great if you could continue to practise this life skill at home as well. We are specifically focusing on o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. We will be looking at time to the nearest 5 minutes before the end of the year.
Have a great weekend.
Miss Blick
