Year 2
Year 2 - 04.10.2019
We have had a lovely week in year 2. You may have heard that our classroom clock stopped this week – meaning that we didn’t realise it was play time until it was too late! Mr Harvey has fixed our clock and the following day the class had double afternoon play to make up for missing it.
Mr Harvey also came to see us on Monday morning. Our current topic is about changes to our school over time and Mr Harvey was kind enough to talk to us about his time at school. The children prepared some great questions and listened really carefully to Mr Harvey’s answers and stories about his days at school.
In English we have started a new text called ‘How To Wash A Woolly Mammoth’. This is a very funny story and the class are thoroughly enjoying it. We have been thinking about what we need to include when giving instructions and have sued this knowledge to sequence the story.
In maths we have been revisiting number bonds to 10 and 20. We have used equipment and represented the number bonds using part-whole and bar models. We have also been thinking about fact families and how we can write 2 subtraction and 2 addition number sentences for one bar model. The class have been applying this knowledge to their problem solving.
We hope you enjoy the weekend.
