Year 2
Year 2 - 19.10.2019
Our current topic in science is animals. We have explored the school grounds to see what is living here and discussed what animals we would find in the forest. We have learnt about food chains and recorded some this week.
This week in English we have been researching different animals in pairs. We started by writing down questions that we wanted answered. We have used the laptops and a range of books to find out lots of information and next week we will use what we have found out to create fact files.
In maths we have continued looking at length. We have been focusing on comparing and ordering different lengths, using objects from around the classroom. We finished the week by beginning our unit on money. We started with using what we know about money to recognise different coins and their value. We have used our knowledge of counting in 1’s, 2’1, 5’s and 10’s to count groups of coins. We will be continuing with money next week.
We ended the week with a great hockey session. The children have leaflets in their bags with more information about joining a hockey club.
The children have also enjoyed a preview of some of our nativity songs for this year! It may only be October, but we had great fun dancing around to them! More information about the nativity will be released in due course.
We hope you enjoy the sunny weekend.
