Maths

45 mins

L.O: To find ¼.

Complete the attached fluency sheets. Draw the pictures into your books so you can work out the answers.  Remember quarters are when the whole amount is split into 4 equal parts.  One quarter is one of those equal parts.

Complete the 2 problem solving activities.

Spelling

15 mins

Practise your spellings.  This could be or spelling shed or using your home learning books.  Use some activities we use in class: rainbow writing (writing each letter is different colours), wiggle words (so a big squiggle on your page and fill each section with one spelling) or look, cover, write check.

Your spellings are:

Hiking             Shining

Surprising      Joking

Hoping            Smiling

Loving             Writing

Coming           Caring

Remember when adding ‘ing’ to words that end in ‘e’, the ‘e’ must be removed.

Writing

35 mins

L.O: To describe a character

Read the attached poem with an adult.

Talk about what you think the alien is like.  Make up a name and draw a picture of your alien.

Write a description of your alien.  Think about the following questions:

What does your alien look like?

What are they like?  Are they kind, happy grumpy, mean etc

How do they move?

Make sure you write in full sentences.  E.g. A new creature has made its way to earth. How strange!  It is a jolly alien called Zed who is filed with happiness.  He is as small as a mouse and scurries around quickly. He is bright blue and covered in pale pink spots. He is looks very friendly but be careful he might steal your underwear!

Science

1 hour

L.O: To explore pushes, pulls and twists.

  1. Create a slope – you could use a chopping board or something similar and lean it against different things around your home.  Use a ball, toy car or tin and roll it down your slope.  Does the steepness or length of the slope affect how far your object will roll? When did it roll the furthest? Record your results in your book.
  2. Gather different materials from around your home – paper, elastic band, playdough, sponge. Are you able to push, pull, twist or bend these objects?  Do they change shape? Do they return to their original shape when you stop the force? Use the attached sheet to help you record your results if you are able to.  Or you could just write down or draw what happens in your home learning book.
