Instructions

Golden Time

30 mins

It is that time of the week where we would usually enjoy Golden Time.

Choose something fun to do (check with an adult first!). You could do some colouring in the garden, play a board game, play on a scooter or bike etc. You could choose to use this time to practise the cooking/game that you are going to write your instructions for!

Reading Comprehension

20 mins

Complete the third comprehension sheet titled: ‘Our Beautiful Blue Planet’.

Maths

15 mins

Complete the fractions activity on Mathletics: https://login.mathletics.com/. Use the animations to share out the amounts or draw your own pictures if needed.

Maths

45 mins

L.O: To find one third.

Watch this video to recap thirds: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ Lesson 1.

Now complete the attached questions. Remember thirds is when the whole (shape or quantity) is split into 3 equal groups or parts.  One third is one of those parts.

Writing

L.O: To write instructions

Choose something that you are an expert at and enjoy doing – a favourite game, baking or craft activity.  Write instructions for how to do it.  Include a list of equipment/ingredients needed.    I have included a PowerPoint to recap writing instructions.

Please include:

  • Imperative verbs (we are being bossy when we write instructions so you need to tell people what to do). E.G: put, pour, hold, stir etc
  • Time Connectives – first, next, after that, finally etc
  • Adverbs – quickly, carefully, gently etc

RE

30 mins

L.O:  To explore what good news means to me.

Talk about what you think good news means.  When have you had good news? Write it as a sentence:  Good news to me means…..
