Year 2
Year 2 - 02.10.2020
It has been a bit of a wet and windy end to the week, but luckily we have still managed to enjoy all of our playtimes outside. The wellies came in useful this morning with the puddles!
This week in English we completed our learning journey ‘Blue Penguin’. The children wrote their own stories (using their plan to help them), and then published them into their own book. We created front covers and included beautiful illustrations to go with our stories. I was very proud of the children’s effort when publishing their work. We spoke about using the feedback they had received when publishing their work, and trying hard with their handwriting. Well done year 2 – you worked so hard!
In maths we have been counting in 10’s starting from any number, both forwards and backwards. The children have been spotting patterns, identifying incorrect sequences and using their learning to share some excellent reasoning. We then moved onto applying our knowledge of counting in 10s to help us find 10 more and 10 less from different numbers.
We have finished the week with a lovely art lesson. We watched a beautiful video about our frozen planet and used this as inspiration to create our own pictures. We discussed the use of hot and cold colours and then used pastels to create our art. The final pieces were wonderful.
I hope you all enjoy the weekend.
