Year 2 - 23.04.2021
Welcome back! It is lovely to see everyone and hear about the children’s Easter holidays. We are very happy to have been joined by Mrs Kitcher in year 2. The children are enjoying getting to know Mrs Kitcher, and have been fantastic at welcoming her into our class :-)
We have had a very busy first week back with lots of learning and fun. In English we have been exploring ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. We started by listening to the story and sharing our views, creating thought bubbles for Mr Grinling and the Seagulls and looking up the meaning of new vocabulary.
In maths we started the week by counting in 3s. I was very impressed with year 2 and their knowledge of counting in 3s. We problem solved using this knowledge and will continue to practise counting in 3’s throughout the term. We have ended the week by looking at using the inverse operation to check addition and subtraction calculations.
Other highlights this week have been using charcoal to do some observational drawing in art, playing cricket in PE and exploring materials in science.
Spelling shed and mathletics tasks are ready for completion.
Have a lovely weekend.
