Year 2
Friday 24th June 2022
We have had a fantastic week in Penguins!
Highlights include the fire service visiting to teach us how to prevent a fire happening and what to do if one does happen, PE with students from Brockenhurst college (they designed some brilliant activities which the children loved) and Pia our visiting artist popping in too! In this week's session we went outside and drew observational drawings to make our own sensory garden books.
We have also set up our plant science experiment, however, the children noticed today that none of the plants have started growing despite the fact that the one with water and sunlight should be. Fingers crossed some shoots start to appear over the weekend!
Some maths and English has been squeezed in too with us focusing on place value in maths and our questioning skills in English linked to our current film unit the Black Hat.
Sadly this week we have had to say goodbye to Miss Osman as she has finished her placement with us. I know the children have loved being taught by her and are going to miss her lots. We wish her the best of luck with the rest of teacher training.
Few Admin Bits and Bobs:
In the coming weeks we will be making our own explorer vehicles. If you have any shoe boxes, cereal boxes (or any other boxes!) please could you send them into school – we need lots!
Also, on Monday please could you send your child to school with a bag which is suitable for carrying lots of books home – we have discovered that we still have the children’s books from last year!
Penguins give yourselves a Hip Hip Hurrah for another super weeks work and have a brilliant weekend!
