Year 2
Friday 17th March 2023
This week Penguins have been completing lots of quizzes in which they have given their all and demonstrated amazing determination and resilience. They are also starting to be very good at checking their work - I am very proud of them for their super effort with these!
In English this week, we have started to explore our new book the Big Book of the Blue. The children have been exploring why this book is non-fiction and also filling in the title, subheadings and facts for one of the pages based just on the picture - we definitely have some future writers in the class!
In maths, we have recapped the different coins and notes we have in the UK and have been practising adding different amounts of money. Penguins have been finding counting in pence very easy but they are getting in a little bit of a muddle when we go over a pound. I know cash isn’t used very much these days but if any opportunities arose when out and back to practise making the amount in cash that would be amazing! Speaking of practising things at home thank you for all your ongoing support with your child’s learning - it really does make a huge difference!
In art, we have painted the backgrounds to our mini model Easter Eggs which are looking very bright in the classroom and in history we have been learning about the first moon landing.
Another super weeks work Penguin class! Have a brilliant weekend (they definitely deserve it having work extremely hard all week!) and I will see you next week!
Miss Michael :)
