Year 2
Year 2 - 19.10.2018
What a wonderful week it has been! A highlight was our trip to Marwell Zoo on Tuesday. We all had a fantastic day exploring the zoo and meeting lots of different animals. I have to say, all children behaved amazingly! It was a pleasure to spend the day with them. They were very excited but still listened carefully to instructions and made the most of their experience. We have used the trip as a writing stimulus and have written recounts of our day at the zoo.
In maths we have looked at 2D shapes. We have been describing them based on how many sides and vertices they have. We have started looking at lines of symmetry and will revisit this after half term.
On Thursday we had an afternoon to celebrate dance. The whole school have been working incredibly hard over the past 6 weeks choreographing their own dances to perform to the rest of the school. Year 2 joined forces with year 1 and created brilliant dances based on our animal’s topic. I was very proud of them for how well they performed in front of the rest of the school. To perform in front of the rest of the school is not an easy thing to do but all of the children performed with determination and supported each other throughout. The children also enjoyed the staff dance at the end! We loved it that the whole school ended up joining in with us.
It was great to see so many of you at parents evening. Please remember that you can always catch me at the end of the day if you have any queries or concerns. We can either have a quick chat then, or arrange a meeting if needed. You can also contact the office and pass a message on to me.
It has been a great half term and a fabulous start to year 2! I hope you have a lovely half term.
