Spring 1 Week 1
A Happy New Year to everyone. It seems odd to write Spring term when it is still so dark and cold and wintery!
Our topic for this half term is 'Around the World', so it was wonderful on Monday to welcome back Max. He was able to come and tell the children about his trip around the world. The children asked him some very thoughtful questions, including what was the weirdest food they ate on their travels - Max said grasshoppers, although his Dad thought it was probably the barbecued guinea pig! We followed this by making our own passports.
We are reading Around the World in 80 days, which the children are finding very exciting so far. This week we have been thinking about the different settings in the story and writing our own descriptions of a railway station and an Indian temple.
In Maths we have started working with money. The children's homework is linked to this and i will also set an activity on Mathletics for those who wish to have a go.
Swimming starts next Friday. The children are full of excitement and a little apprehension from some. If you have any concerns please come and see me. Many thanks to my parent volunteers, i hope you all have your timetables. Let me know if you can't make any of the dates. we are very grateful for your support.
Enjoy your weekend,
