Year 3
Summer 1 Week 1
We've had a fun-packed first week back at school. We started the week with scooter training on Tuesday, which the children loved! We were outside in the playground learning how to safely scoot, use the break, scoot around corners and we managed to learn a few tricks too.
In English we started our new text, Escape from Pompeii by Christina Balit. This book links to our topic for the term which is The Romans. We have been finding out how Mt. Vesuvius erupted and covered the Roman city of Pompeii. the children have been fascinated.
In Maths we are looking at fractions which we will continue next week. I will set some activities on Mathletics to consolidate what we have learnt so far. I have not sent any spellings out as we will have a mini assessment of words previously tested on Monday.
This morning we were lucky enough to all visit Woodpeckers Care Home, who were holding their own Garden Marathon. We completed our daily mle around their beautiful garden, watched by some of the residents there and then completed a few extra laps with some of the children from Brockenhurst Pre-school who were also there this morning. It was a lovely event in the spring sunshine.
In a few weeks we will be making Roman shields so I need some help finding cardboard boxes. If you do have a delivery at any time soon and could bring the box in I would greatly appreciate it. A cereal box will do, but a corrugated card box is better as it makes a stronger shield! Many thanks.
Have a lovely weekend
